“MULTI-DISTRACTION!!!”
The word “multi-tasking” is very common to
all full time moms. They are cooking
while cleaning the house while washing the clothes while taking care of the
baby and feeding dogs. It is also always
associated with computer multi-tasking. This is having different tabs or windows in just
one screen, different sites, like google, facebook, yahoo, twitter, tumblr, instagram,
youtube, blogspot, and many other social networking sites with the addition of different
digital programs you used like MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc… And you have
with your table also your reading materials, reports, projects that you need to
finish while reading your Bible? You are managing all of that at the same
time. Sounds great or disgusting?
Let’s find out by understanding the
difference of “multi-tasking” to “multi-distraction”.
What do
we really mean by multi-tasking?
The world generation’s misconception to this
word is basically a person thinks that it is the ability to do more than one task at the same time (as we have mentioned earlier). Thinking that they can:
·
Save much time,
·
Accomplish more tasks,
·
And maximize their
energy.
That is somehow true but not 100% correct.
Multi-tasking is doing a GROUP OF TASK OF THE SAME CLASS (of course) that leads you to
meet your deadlines, targets, or simply ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOAL WITH
EXCELLENCE.
It is simply knowing the importance of things.
What you prioritize is what you
pursue or what you pursue you should prioritize. And that is same with seeking the will of God, it should be our top priority and obeying
His will is what we should pursue. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added
unto you”. (Matthew 6:33)
What is
multi-DISTRACTION?
Distraction is what interrupts or divides our attention
that causes delay. So, multi-distraction
is huge interruption or giant division of our attention that results from our
defeat.
To cut it short, it is “PRIORITIZING THE WRONG PRIORITY”.
How to
avoid multi- DISTRACTION?
To be straight, I CAN’T give you ways to
avoid it (instead
read your Bible and find it out.)
BUT, I CAN give you reasons WHY do you need
to shun distractions.
1.
It
makes your vision vague.
-
you
become easily deceive by the enemy (you didn’t even chew what you consume).
2.
It
wobbles your faith.
-
and
that causes you to tremble (that makes one man weak).
3.
You
easily trade opportunities.
-
it
is equivalent to failure answering the call (or worse, rejecting the call).
4.
You
get yourself busy
-
Being Under Satan’s Yoke (you just give
yourself burden and accomplish nothing).
5.
Cause
you to NEGLECT your GREAT COMMISSION (Matthew 28:19)
-
your
TOP MISSION is taken for granted (just for your own pleasure).
There are more reasons why we need to avoid
it and that’s too many to mention. Yeah,
I know, it is easy to say but hard to put in action. We are not emphasizing negativity here; we
are just facing the fact that ‘distraction’
is what hinders us.
Doing so will not be easy if we are just
relying upon ourselves. But with prayer (1 Thessalonians
5:17) (Jame 5:13)
and with the help of the Holy Spirit and focusing on Jesus, bringing glory to
our Father will be rewarding.
So, let me share to you this verse:
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has
overtaken you that is not common to man.
God is faithful, and he will not let
you be tempted beyond your ability,
but with the temptation he will also
provide the way of escape,
that you may be able to endure it.
BE ENCOURAGED!
Shalom.
